Residence Support Staff

 

 

The British Embassy in Ankara is seeking to fill a newly created Residence Support Staff position at the British Ambassador’s Residence. The successful candidate will be working in a busy team and help handling the day-to-day operations at the Residence.

 

Flexibility, trustworthiness and strong interpersonal skills are essential qualities that will be needed by the jobholder. The successful applicant must be available to take up the position immediately.

 

The position includes an initial probationary period of 2 months.

 

 

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

 

  • Carry out all duties in accordance with tasks and descriptions with reference to established rules and policies.
  • Ensure proper table set-ups at all times for various meal periods/events.
  • Undertake general serving/cleaning duties within the Embassy compound.
  • Undertake serving/cleaning in the Accommodation rooms of the British Ambassador`s residence.
  • Undertake duties including the cleaning of HMA and his family’s bedrooms, entrances, communal areas, offices, toilets, staircases, corridors and storage areas to a high standard.
  • Carry out house-keeping duties such as laundry and ironing.
  • Carry, load, unload, deliver and collect furniture and necessary items to and from various locations within the compound as instructed by the Residence Butler and the Residence Manager.
  • Assist Residence Butler/Residence Manager.
  • Undertake tasks outlined and listed in the daily cleaning tasks issued by the Residence Butler/Residence Manager.
  • Distribute and collect post, stationary and newspapers on a daily basis.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Residence Butler/Residence Manager or senior managers.
  • Provide support on all preparations, office moves, setting-up equipment and furniture relevant to event organisations or any ad hoc requests at the Embassy compound.
  • Serve on all events, meetings, meals at the Embassy compound.
  • Comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Efficient use of communication tools provided for the Embassy staff such as Prism Self-Service and FCO e-mails.
  • Provide backup for the rest of the Residence Support Staff when required

Required Experience & Skills:

 

  • A flexible, positive approach to work;

  • A mid level of spoken and written English and Turkish;

Effectiveness in this area is about trying to improve the quality of service, taking account of customer needs and requirements in your work area. People who are effective organise their time and activities to deliver a high quality and efficient service.

 

o    Delivering at Pace

Effectiveness in this area means focusing on delivering timely performance with energy and taking responsibility for your own actions. It’s about working to agreed goals and activities and dealing well with set-backs.

 

 

Terms and Conditions:

 

This is a full-time, permanent contract for 5 working days (42.5 hours net) per week.

 

The successful applicant must be available to take up the position quickly.

 

The selected candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and 2 months probation period.

 

The annual salary for this position is 34.252.8 TL grossS level. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law.

 

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Ankara is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Turkish employment law.
