Job Title: Deputy PAX (Passenger) Manager

Reports to: PAX Manager/CATO (Combined Air Terminal Operation)

Job Location: Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) North Side (a secure NATO military base)

 

Responsibilities:

The Deputy PAX Manager will manage a multi-national team of PAX Team Leaders/PAX Specialists and take responsibility for the staff under his/ her leadership to ensure full compliance to the Health and Safety policies.

 

The CATO PAX Team’s duties will involve the following:

 

  • Read and interpret information from the published Flying Program and allocate specific duties to PAX staff.
  • Control the Passenger Check-In Desk for both rotary and fixed wing aircraft.
  • Supervision and preparation of daily ITAS flight manifests.
  • Monitor any changes to the daily flying program and react appropriately to any additional aircraft or circumstances that may affect passenger handling operations. 
  • Ensure that all allotted CATO Passenger Aircraft are handled in a professional and expeditious manner, whilst ensuring compliance with all extant regulations.
  • Close liaison with all agencies involved in aircraft operations, such as Air Transport Security (ATSY), CJMCC (Combined Joint Movement Control Centre), ALCC (Air Lift Coordination Centre) and the National Visit’s Officers for VIP or DV moves to ensure safe, timely and effective passenger control.
  • Close Liaison with the CATO Operations Centre on issues relating to all rotary and fixed wing aircraft handled by CATO.
  • Ensure, through daily inspections, that the passenger area is kept in a clean and satisfactory standard.                  
  • Supervision of PAX Handling staff in their place of work.
  • Provide training and guidance to PAX staff.
  • Complete, check and ensure accuracy of Passenger Manifests for departing aircraft.
  • Ensure welfare & safety of all transiting passengers within the CATO terminals, and on the flight-line.
  • Control the Passenger Information Desk, providing a visual focal point for incoming or outgoing passengers, and assisting when necessary.
  • Provide flight scheduling information to passengers.
  • Liaison with the CATO Cargo section to ensure that passenger baggage is accurately weighed before loading.
  • Ensure that all departing passengers handled by CATO receive a pre-boarding Flight Safety Briefing.
  • Ensure that all passengers handled by CATO are escorted in a safe and professional manner to and from their respective flights.
  • Deliver all Toolbox talks and Shift Start-up Briefs as required.

 

Salary: 

  •          £1300/$2000/TL5700
  •          All food, accommodation, transport and insurance provided free of charge
  •          12+3 leave rotation: 3 weeks leave every 12 weeks spent in theatre
  •          One year contract with possible extension into 2017

Essential skills, experience and knowledge:  

  • Must be able to demonstrate previous relevant experience in the management of military passenger handling operations.
  • Should demonstrate knowledge and experience of Air Transport Security regulations in order to assist with baggage and passenger screening.
  • Must hold a valid and internationally recognized national driving license.
  • Possess fluent English and Turkish language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Must be familiar with radio and telephone procedure in order to communicate with the HKIA Air Operations Centre and Air Traffic Control.
  • Supervisory experience in a passenger handling role as a supervisor or team leader;
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Applications including Word and Excel;
  • Familiar with NATO, ICAO and IATA terminology and standards and also to be familiar with ramp (apron) safety procedures.
  • Basic understanding of Military (NATO) Radio (Rx/Tx) Procedures;
  • Understanding of the NATO Phonetic Alphabet;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Excellent Customer service skills;
  • Be a NATO member state National and be able to hold a NATO SECRET clearance;
  • Understanding of Health and safety Regulations.
  • Must have a current, in date IATA DG CAT 9 as a minimum requirement.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience of working in a military or joint civilian/military environment;
