INSO is looking for an Information Officer!

INSO is an international non-governmental and non-profit organization. Our mission is to support the humanitarian community with information, analysis and advice that enhances situational awareness, supports decision-making, strengthens operational practice and enables humanitarian access.

Location: Gaziantep, Turkey

Scope of the Position

Under the supervision of the Operations Coordinator, the successful candidate will be focused on data and information management for safety and security related incidents for Syria.

He/she will be responsible for data consolidation and consistency, and will work with other actors on data sharing and verification. The successful candidate will work closely with the safety advisors, and will therefore be expected to follow the security landscape, to help define key trends and patterns.

As part of a young and dynamic team, he/she will be working with one of the leading humanitarian security and safety NGOs on the Syria crisis.

Key Objectives

1. Maintain the accuracy and integrity of INSO Syria’s information and database:

• Receive, review, and code regional submissions of safety and security incidents
• Assist in the production of INSO products and services such as the Weekly incident List, the Biweekly and Quarterly Reports as well as materials for briefings to a range of partners
• Be the end responsible for the INSO Syria safety and security incident database

1. Oversee, manage and maintain NGO registration with INSO Syria:

• Be the focal point for all registration requests to INSO Syria’s email, SMS and IM services
• Manage, update, and review all distribution lists on a frequent basis

Mandatory Requirements

1. Syrian or Turkish national;
2. Fluent in English (written and spoken);
3. Advanced database management skills, especially MS excel;
4. Demonstrated experience with information management;
5. Strong interest in the field of humanitarian access and security analysis.
6. Be very detailed-oriented;
7. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Characteristics

1. Knowledge of Arabic (written);
2. Previous working experience in working with or for NGOs in Turkey or in Syria;
