MEP MANAGER

INTERNATIONAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT FIRM IS LOOKING FOR FULL TIME MEP MANAGER FOR ALMATY, KAZAKHSTAN

Position Description:    

Reports to the Project Manager. Multi project responsibilities to supervise and coordinate the project organization to complete the work on time, within budget, and to the quality specified.

Project Description:              

ALMA-ATA Academic Medical Center, Academic Medicine and Comprehensive Healthcare Solutions will be a regional medical center will support basic and applied research.

The master plan is on 6.9 hectares and will be comprised of three buildings, built in three phases. This proposal is for Phase 1: built on two hectares the 39,000 square-meter,150-bed acute care hospital is composed of support space, diagnostic and treatment rooms, outpatient and inpatient facilities, mechanical rooms, and public spaces, and will be built to Joint Commission International (JCI) standards. 

Work Environment:             

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.

Physical Demands: 

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Evaluation & understanding of the project /drawings / specifications.

Tracking & Issuance of design drawings & specifications forming the basis of submission of shop drawings for approvals.

Tracking of material & drawing submittals by contractors/vendors & ensuring quick approvals.

Evaluation & recommendation on offers for MEP packages.

Macro design evaluation of drawings issued & approved with respect to site installation & package workability.

Tracking of material deliveries at site with special emphasis on long delivery items & items falling on critical path.

Ensuring preparation & approval of coordinated services drawings for site installation works.

Evaluation of the baseline program for MEP services with special emphasis on dependencies & monitoring the same.

Evaluation of baseline program with respect to activity durations & resources & monitoring them at site.

Follow the program once approved, to ensure timely completion within budget.

Resolution of contractor/ vendor queries’ on design/ installation to ensure quick & efficient solutions. Conducting workshops with all stakeholders for resolutions.

Track the project costs to ensure completion within the provided budget.

Technical evaluation of variations with respect to the original contract & specifications.

Ensure that the installations are carried out in accordance with the issued drawings & specifications and as per good Engineering practices as well as manufacturer’s recommendations.

Systemize & organize site documentation to record changes & decisions taken efficiently.

Conduct progress meetings & ensure report generation for Client’s review.

Ensure all installations are certified & punch lists generated & attended.

Close out documentation containing As Built drawings & O & M Manuals are prepared & handed over in accordance with good practices.

Facilitate & document the handover of the services along with training of the maintenance personnel to the client / user & ensure trouble free flow of information.

Post completion, check on systems operations periodically & help operators in removal of malfunctions & system breakdowns.

Qualifications: Four-year college degree and at least 12 years’ of building construction experience

Preferably Managerial level specializing in engineering – Mechanical/Electrical or equivalent experience/exposure

Knowledge of various construction methods and materials, their characteristics, installation procedures and tolerance.

Strong computer skills and familiar with Microsoft office programs is required.

Very strong English oral & written communication skills are a must.

Time management and personal effectiveness skills are essential as are good communications, organization and computer skills
