 Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

 The British Consulate General in Istanbul is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas as is now looking to hire two Drivers to operate vehicles in support of its operations in Gaziantep. Duties will include carrying passengers, collecting and delivering documents, routine maintenance of the vehicles and also performing safety checks for the vehicles. The post entails regular evening work, occasional overnight trips and frequent short-notice tasking.

The drivers are expected to be fully involved in all activities and to display a pleasant and professional demeanour at all times.

 Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain the vehicles to an appropriately high standard of cleanliness at all times;
• Maintain vehicles documentation, records and log sheets accurately;
• Maintain vehicles ancillary equipment and other equipment issued to perform the above tasks;
• Collect and deliver documents and other items as required;
• Assist with other duties as required;
• As this is a representational job role, the job holder will be expected to dress in an appropriate fashion and to maintain a neat and tidy appearance at all times when on duty (uniform will be provided).

Essential qualifications and experience

• High school diploma;
• Possession of a clean valid Turkish Driver's License;
• Operation and maintenance requirements of passenger, including 4x4, vehicles;
• Five (5) years full-time passenger transportation or delivery experience desirable;
• Detailed knowledge of Turkish traffic laws, ordinances and rules;
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
• Applicants must be willing to undergo a mandatory driving assessment.

 Desirable qualifications and experience

• Detailed knowledge of the geography of Gaziantep and routes through and to and from the city will be an asset.
• A working knowledge of spoken English would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and a probation period of 2 months.

The annual salary for this position is 36,076.80 TL gross, S1 level. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law.

Staff recruited locally by the British Consulate General in Istanbul are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Turkish employment law.
