Agricultural Marketing Specialist

Implements marketing and promotion activities for U.S. agriculture and food products exported to Turkey; assists U.S. industry by providing information and advice on local Turkish importers and market conditions for U.S. agricultural products of interest, and gives assistance to American agricultural stakeholders and U.S. government officials by providing commodity and market information as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Office in the U.S. Consulate in İstinye, Istanbul.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree is required in business, marketing, economics, commerce, or agriculture/food-related (including food engineering).

Experience: Minimum FIVE years of experience working in the field of agribusiness, economics, food /trade marketing, which includes reporting and market analysis, promotion, knowledge of accounting and budgeting practices, and project management skills.

Language: Fluency in Speaking/Reading/Writing English and Turkish required. This will be tested.

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills: A major requirement of the position is the ability to write detailed analytical reports on agricultural commodities and marketing in English.  Specialist will have skills in using computer software to develop databases, the ability to obtain and evaluate market information, marketing strategies, and statistical analysis of market possibilities in various commodities. Specialist also must have the ability to develop strategic planning and budgeting specific to marketing U.S. food and agricultural products in the Turkish market and have thorough knowledge of mechanisms, constraints and practices related to the market for various agricultural commodities and processed foods in Turkey and opportunities for U.S. products. Knowledge of local business, marketing and sales practices and of local business firms and contacts engaged in trading food and agricultural products is required. The Specialist will have the ability to develop and maintain a wide range of working-level contacts in Turkey's public and private sectors.

Military Service: Completion of compulsory military service is required for Male candidates.
