Istanbul Virtual Support Specialist Application FormJob Location: Istanbul, TurkeySummaryWith guidance and supervision from American Councils Country Director (CD) and Izmir EducationUSA Advising Center staff, and in coordination US Embassy Public Affairs Section and EducationUSA Team Turkey, the Virtual Support Specialist (VSS) provides Marmara region (targeting Istanbul primarily) students with a general overview of US higher education. The VSS conducts in-person outreach to high schools in and around Istanbul on a monthly basis and provides daily live sessions on directed topics related to US Higher Education and the US University application process. In cooperation with CD and EducationUSA Team Turkey, the VSS organizes and facilitates virtual cohort advising for competitive students in Istanbul and the greater Marmara region. The Virtual Support Specialist tracks student engagement on a weekly basis and provides monthly Activity Progress Reports to the CD, including at least one event highlight including a 2-paragraph English summary, 2 event photos, as well as weekly and monthly outreach and advising statistics. The VSS is expected to complete both online EducationUSA adviser training course modules, adhere to strict ethical standards of professional behavior, and be committed to expanding the center’s outreach capacity and professionalization. Providing successful delivery of these objectives, the VSS will be eligible to be considered for professional advancement, further training, and greater responsibility.EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time, flexible hours (subject to CD approval); subject to probation period. All mutual contractual obligations are subject to Turkish Labor Law.IMPORTANT NOTE: EMPLOYER CANNOT SPONSOR WORK PERMITS REPORTS TO: American Councils Country Director

QUALIFICATIONS:· Legal authorization to work in Turkey;· Fluent written and spoken professional Turkish and English;· Strong interpersonal skills;· Master’s degree;· Marketing, sales, and mass communication skills;· Excellent attention to detail, time management, organization and planning skills;· Ability to manage multiple priorities quickly and effectively;· Flexibility to occasionally work hours on weekends and evenings;· Demonstrate no conflict of interest in professional life to AC leadership and EducationUSA stakeholders (US Embassy, Turkish Government, etc.)Preference may be given to candidates who: Have educational experience in the U.S.;Possess teaching and/or advising certifications.
