Summary of position:Under the general supervision of the Canadian Defense Attaché Administration Assistant (CDA AA), the Canadian Defense Attaché Office CDAO Program Assistant (CDA PA) will perform and provide open source research, analysis, defense and security report writing, translation services and a variety of Defense administrative support functions. CDA PA will maintain regional Defense and security situational awareness of the accredited countries. CDA PA will liaise with the National Defense Headquarters, host and accredited nations representative of the Defense Department, Defense Industries, Defense Intelligence and Security Organizations. The CDA PA will also liaise with representatives from Canadian missions in or responsible for countries of accreditation concerning the Canadian Armed Forces Defense Military Training and Cooperation Program.
Essential qualifications:Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university

Language:
• Proficiency in English written and oral)
• Proficiency in Turkish (written and oral)

Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of recent* work experience in research and analysis in the field of security, defense, geo-political affairs or similar fields.

*recent is defined as within the last 5 years

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of the Turkish Defense, security and political military environments
• Knowledge of the Political Military environment of the surrounding neighbors, Georgia, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan
• Knowledge of the Political Military, Defence and Security relationship between Turkey, Syria, and Iraq

Abilities/ Competencies:
• Ability to provide research, defence and security analysis, written reports and briefings in support of the CDAO
• Ability to provide translations services both written and verbal in English and Turkish
• Ability to write effective business correspondence in English and Turkish
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Turkish, orally and in writing;
• Ability to manage time in order to arrange workflow and meet deadlines
• Excellent computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Familiarity with the use of databases, social media and the internet

Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

Language:
• Proficiency in Azeri (written and oral)
• Proficiency in Georgian (written and oral)
• Proficiency in Turkmen (written and oral)

Experiences:
• Experience working in an office environment in defence support or defence program assistant capacity
• Defence-specific experience
• Experience in interacting with Turkish government agencies including TSK, TGS and MFA
• Experience in financial administration

Organizational Needs:
Operational Requirements:• Willingness to work overtime (compensated).
• Willingness to undergo training
• Annual leave may be restricted due to operational needs
• Adhere to Canada's Code on Values & Ethics.
• Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, 5 days a week
