INWARD INVESTMENT DEPUTY

The Trade and Economic Representation of Flanders at the Consulate General of Belgium in Istanbul (“Flanders Investment and Trade Istanbul”) - is hiring a highly qualified and responsible individual for the position of “Inward Investment Deputy”.

Task:

The Deputy’s main role is business development; he/she will need to motivate Turkish companies to invest in Flanders, Belgium, by generating and nurturing contacts with companies, and by providing them with advice on every aspect of setting up overseas.

• To provide input to the Flemish Economic Representative by identifying business opportunities and promoting Flanders’ capabilities to Turkish companies and Flanders as a preferred destination for outward investment from Turkey.

Including:

•  Active prospection to detect Turkey companies that want to invest in Flanders;

•  Following up on trends, detecting opportunities and analyzing market opportunities for business development

•  Understand and explain the arguments and incentives (i.e. subsidies, financial support, etc.)  to prospective investors;

•  Active guidance and support for Turkey companies interested in investing in Flanders;

• To build and use an effective network of contacts within the private sector to assist the above. This would also include visits to companies and business events across Turkey, including trade fairs (facilitating knowledge acquisition and extending network capability). Furthermore, annual training visits in Flanders, Belgium need to be attended.

• To regularly report and review the outcomes of the above activities and consider where changes of direction or focus may be required to better meet the demands of the customer depending on resource availability.

• To be responsible for management of budgeted funds for actions, including proper reporting and follow-up; including preparation of individual business visits, canvassing trips, group actions, economic missions, seminars, exhibitions;

• Suggesting ideas and opportunities for the action program of the office;

• Writing general and specific market and sector studies.

 

 

• Diploma : Master’s degree, preferably in economics or international trade;

• Minimum 2 years of (commercial) experience in an international context;

• Excellent Turkish and English speaking & writing; knowledge of Dutch is an asset;

• Good knowledge of commonly used IT applications (Excel/Word/Outlook). Familiarity with a Customer Relations Management system is an asset ;

• Knowledge of international trade and investments;

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Profile
In the Deputy role, you will be supporting the goals of the organization by identifying businesses that may be interested in investing in our region, Flanders. This role will require travel and preparation for conferences and business meetings in order to provide information to our clients and ultimately convince them to set up a presence in Flanders. Your ease of dealing with people and ability to network will be crucial in your success in identifying partnerships and business deals.

Your excellent written and verbal Turkish and English communication skills, reliability, integrity and impeccable judgement will allow you to take initiative and reach out to new contacts. Your excellent presentation skills will allow you to persuade potential clients.

Your work will be highly independent, requires flexibility and will require superior organizational skills. Your creativity, high attention to detail and passion for spearheading new initiatives to manifest the assets of our region, will ensure success in this position.

While your day-to-day job may be individual, you will have to be a good team player, resilient when working under pressure, with good power of analysis and judgement.

Flanders Investment & Trade is an agency of the government of Flanders, the northern region of Belgium. Its aim is to support Flemish companies in their international business endeavors and to attract and support foreign companies that want to set up or expand in Flanders. In the Istanbul office, this role is specifically aimed towards the Turkish market.  You will be able to work in an internationally oriented organization that encourages employee development, instills creativity and nurtures independent thinking in a forward-looking context.

The salary for this job will be 9.000TL (gross monthly salary, adapted to experience and inflation index)

The working week entails (a minimum of) 38 hours, but a “9-to-5” mentality is not expected within this job. The Deputy will need to attend business networking events and fairs, some of which may take place on evenings and/or in weekends.
