Data Management and Analyses Officer

Support to Life (STL) is an independent humanitarian agency working in the field of disaster risk reduction, disaster preparedness, and emergency response in Turkey and the surrounding region. With an emphasis on community participation, STL works at a grassroots level to build local capacity, mitigate the risks and impact of disasters, and support those in need in meeting their basic needs and rights.

In line with its mandate STL currently has the following main activities:

Refugee Support Program: in response to the increasing number of refugees in Turkey, STL is supporting refugees living outside camps in the Turkish border area through a food security programme providing psychosocial support through the establishment of  Community Centers;

Child Protection Program: STL has been providing protection services and psychosocial care for Syrian children and children affected by seasonal agricultural migration. Targeting both at-risk and working children among the refugees as well as the host community, STL has been supporting children’s education through life skills activities, awareness raising sessions and workshops.

Civil Society Disaster Platform: in collaboration with partners, STL has launched a platform that will bring together civil society actors in sharing information and coordinating projects related to disaster management in Turkey.

• Manage Support To Life Data management system (Sahana, KoBo Toolbox, STL database) by being in regular contact with field teams 
• Regularly improve the content of STL’s Data Management software (Sahana) with support of external consultant 
• Develop and implement data collection and analysis systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality 
• Prepare the surveys for STL data collection; acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems; interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports; analyze and interpret data from multiple sources and provide information to others for reporting 
• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets 
• Filter and “clean” data, and review computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems 
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities 
• Support all field teams for data collection and management processes by regular visits and providing training

• University education in a relevant field 
• Technical competence to manage and analyze the data in large quantities 
• At least 1 year experience in working with data collection, management, analysis and reporting Knowledge of PYTHON language or any other web development language; knowledge of Mysql and/or postgresql or any other database language 
• Advanced knowledge and experience of statistical package and programs office programs competently at advanced level (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) 
• Preferably using the Kobo Toolbox or learning quickly 
• Awareness of the main principles of international NGOs, such as accountability, impartiality independence, discrimination, cooperation and understanding of multiculturalism 
• Proficiency in the English language is a must, knowledge of Turkish and Arabic is a plus 
• Ability to operate as part of a team in a multi-cultural, value-driven work environment, and to perform tasks in sensitivity to the local culture; to manage different demands, workloads and priorities effectively, systematically and strategically 
• Engaged to produce qualified work and conclusions; analyze problems, produce effective solutions Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
