Team Leader

Support to Life (STL) is an independent humanitarian agency working in the field of disaster risk reduction, disaster preparedness, and emergency response in Turkey and the surrounding region.  With an emphasis on community participation, STL works at a grassroots level to build local capacity, mitigate the risks and impact of disasters, and support those in need in meeting their basic needs and rights.

In line with its mandate STL currently has the following main activities:

•          Relief aid and protection for Syrian refugees: in response to the increasing number of refugees in Turkey, STL is supporting refugees living outside camps in the Turkish border area through a food security programme providing psychosocial support through the establishment of Community Centres;

•          Child labour in seasonal agricultural work: STL has been working with at-risk children, sensitising farmers and raising awareness among the public in an effort to contribute to eliminating child labour;

•          Civil Society Disaster Platform: in collaboration with partners, STL has launched a platform that will bring together civil society actors in sharing information and coordinating projects related to disaster management in Turkey.

STL is looking for Team Leader to work in the Community Centre in Narlica. The working language in the Community Centre is English.

•          Leads the team of skills development and psychosocial programme in an efficient manner
•          Ensures the implementation of skill building activities and psychosocial activities in line with preparatory work and project planning, including follow-up of administration, finance, logistics, and communication
•          Assists Community CentreManager in identifying new intervention areas for protection program.
•          Contributes to the development of Psychosocial and Skill building program project components.
•          Ensures that all project staff promote and maintain confidentiality regarding all beneficiaries and their records.
•          Develops/supports the development of training materials based related to project activities, as appropriate.
•          Under the supervision of the Community CentreManager and the Field Coordinator, establishes contact and maintains communication with stakeholders relevant to the project, including local government offices, UN agencies and NGOs in Hatay.
•          Ensures synergy with other Support to Life programs in the area of operation
•          Undertakes the collation, analysis, and monthly reporting of project related statistics.
•          Provides analysis and follow-up of project indicators.
•          Based on reports from the field team, prepares monthly and quarterly progress reports to the attention of Community CentreManager, both narrative and financial, indicating project status with planned versus actual achievements including photo documentation.

•          University education and training in a relevant field (psychology, social sciences, political science, international relations or sociology)
•          Minimum 2 years of professional experience in projects particularly in conflict zones, experience in managing teams
•          Sound and demonstrable knowledge of and skills in communication, strategic planning, and policy development
•          Excellent written and oral command of English and Arabic and/or Turkish (proficiency in 3 of those is a distinctive advantage)
•          IT proficiency (word, excel, powerpoint, email)
•          Further training and/or experience in social services, assistance to refugees, psychosocial work with children and women
•          Good understanding of key principles of NGOs and social support organisations including accountability, impartiality, neutrality, independence, cooperation, and intercultural understanding
•          Ability to perform tasks in sensitivity to the local culture
•          Ability to manage self under pressure and stress, and maintain ethical and professional conduct
•          Reside in Hatay
