Chief Operating Officer Int. Law Firm Istanbul

A prestigious, global law firm is seeking a COO adept at interacting with all levels (partners, associates and staff) with professionalism and diplomacy, for its Istanbul office.

This multifaceted role requires experience in finance and business development as well as solid supervisory skills needed for managing direct and dotted-line reports. A four year degree in business, finance, HR or other related areas is required. MBA would be considered a plus. This firm is well-established and highly respected in Turkey.

You will be responsible for overseeing, managing and directing the support functions of the office in Istanbul, including marketing, business development, finance, human resources, professional development, information services, procurement and facilities management. The role will have responsibility to work with the Executive Partner and relevant partners in the office to develop and implement the Firm’s strategy for Istanbul, Turkey.

Responsibilities:

Strategy:

Work with the Executive Partner of the office, other partners and regional management and practice group heads, to develop and execute the strategic and operation plans for the Istanbul office. Responsible for implementation of all actions required to achieve goals, grow and strengthen certain practices and the overall profitability of the office; including but not limited to:

- supporting the Firm in continuing to grow its distinctive value proposition to its clients

- identifying practice expansion and client opportunities.Develop, manage and oversee all support functions of the office.

Operational:

-Foster/accelerate the firms approach to client service, marketing, business development and to practice support in Turkey.

-Direct and oversee the office’s personnel pipeline including recruitment, career development, training, performance management, compensation, benefits, and other issues.

-Oversee the deployment of IT and knowledge management rollout in the Istanbul office.

-Refine and implement new and existing best business practices with the need to balance and optimize the requirements of the Istanbul office and the firm as a whole including internal policy compliance, internal processes and business continuity.

Financial:

-Monitor and report P&L and other financial metrics.

-Be aware and seek to resolve, any financial issues.

-Oversee the Firm’s procurement of goods and services in Istanbul.

Risk Management:

-Ensure that the business is managed effectively from a risk management perspective, encompassing statutory and law society/local bar compliance, internal policy compliance, internal processes and business continuity.

Supervisory: The COO will manage and supervise a team of approximately 7 and, through them, will oversee the activities of all support personnel in the office

Reports to: Executive Partner in Istanbul & COO EMEA
