Job Location: Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) North Side (a secure NATO military base)

Responsibilities:

Managing the IRW (internationally recruited workers) in the following activities:

• Marshalling by use of ”Follow Me’’ vehicle and also ground marshalling for a wide range of military and civilian aircrafts, including armed fast jets, bombers and UAV-s, according with current ICAO and NATO regulation.
• Aircraft first line handling/servicing to include (but not limited to) ground power provision, air start provisioning, engine start up, towing and push back, crew transport, waste collection and toilet servicing, de-icing and anti-icing to HKIA to ensure a safe environment to visiting Military and civilian aircraft operating in support of the NATO mission in Afghanistan.
• Aircraft Nitrogen and Oxygen replenishment achieving the safe and correct procedure according to work method.
• Take appropriate first response action and make notification as required in reaction to aircraft operational emergencies.
• Coordinate schedules, support, activities and requirements with AOC (Air Operation Centre), coordination of aircrew and passenger transportation requirements with CATO (Combined Air Terminal Operations) and Motor Pool Dispatch Service.
• Coordinate support requirements with Fire Crash and Rescue Services, fuelling and defueling with fuels contractors and also loading/unloading operations with CATO.
• Attend in training sessions, tool box talks and adhere to Health & Safety requirements at all times.
• Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

Salary:

• £1400/$2130/TL6100
• All food, accommodation, transport and insurance provided free of charge
• 12+3 leave rotation: 3 weeks leave every 12 weeks spent in theatre
• One year contract with possible extension into 2017

• Essential skills, experience and knowledge:  

• Must be able to demonstrate previous relevant experience in airport or airline ground handling operations, knowledge of ICAO, NATO, IATA marshalling signals.
• Must be able to demonstrate management and leadership skills and experience of leading a crew of aircraft handlers.
• Must hold a valid and internationally recognized national driving license. 
• Must be familiar with radio and telephone procedure in order to communicate with KAIA Air Operations Control and Air Traffic Control.
• Familiar with NATO, ICAO and IATA terminology and standards and also to be familiar with ramp (apron) safety procedures.
• Fluent in spoken and written English and Turkish.
• Able to hold a NATO Secret Clearance

 Preferred:

• Previous experience in working with GSE (GPUs, Air Starter, Oxygen & Nitrogen replenishment, Lavatory Services truck).
• De/anti-icing operator course certificate.
• Push back/towing course certificate.
• Experience of working with military aircrafts.
• Experience of working on operations in austere remote sites or in developing nations.
