Job description
- Evaluation of food chain information.

- Ante-mortem examination of animals before slaughter.
- Verification of compliance with animal welfare laws.
- Post-mortem inspection and approval of conformity for human consumption Verification of slaughter hygiene standards, slaughterhouse traceability systems and food safety management systems.
- Assessment and decision-making regarding food chain information, livestock, animal welfare and meat.
- Verifying that slaughterhouses comply with legal requirements through their own food safety management procedures.
- As an Official Veterinarian, provide technical support in slaughterhouses with appropriate advice and inspections and be responsible for the performance of the slaughterhouse inspection team
- Be effective and confident to establish and maintain productive working relationships with the FSA (Food Standards Agency), slaughterhouse managers and other stakeholders (Other Government Departments, Local Authorities, etc.), have high communication skills, be able to establish good relationships in the work environment and quickly resolve any problems that arise
- Write detailed reports and understand the law in order to make effective decisions when necessary
- Have high diplomatic and communication skills to solve difficult and complex problems.
