The International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) is an internationally operating non-governmental organization serving and protecting uprooted people, regardless of faith, race, ethnicity, or nationality.

For three decades, ICMC has partnered with the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration to conduct refugee resettlement. Currently ICMC operates under a cooperative agreement with the Department of State (DOS), as a Resettlement Support Centre (RSC) to prepare eligible refugee applications for consideration for resettlement in Turkey and Middle East (TuME). As part of this service we work with several thousands of refugees and their families each year and take them through each stage of processing that is required for resettlement to the U.S.A. ICMC also has a sub-office in Beirut, Lebanon. The caseload includes a variety of different nationalities, including Iraqis, Iranians, Syrians and Afghans.

UNHCR identifies and refers refugees for the resettlement program and members of the in processing team are responsible for taking refugee statements, their biometric data and the preparation of the refugee case files for adjudication by Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) officers. 

Job Purpose

The Clerks will work as a team with Supervisors on each case file to ensure that the information and date contained in the file is up-to-date and presented according to standards to US Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) and to IOM prior to departure.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • To prepare all refugee files to a high standard for USCIS interviews and for IOM before departure;
  • To obtain necessary electronic and biometric data to be included in the file;
  • To update all information in the global Worldwide Refugee Assistance Programme (WRAPS) database;
  • To cooperate with key partners and stakeholders in the resettlement process such as UNHCR, IOM, PRM;
  • To take part in regular audits, inspections and team meetings;
  • To work closely with other teams and units to produce work at the required standards;
  • To perform other tasks as assigned by the Head of Resettlement manager and the Unit Supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Commitment to uphold ICMC’s values of fairness, equality and respect of human dignity;
  • Commitment to safeguard refugee interests and to prevent any real or perceived abuse of trust and conflict of interest;
  • Higher education or relevant vocational certificate;
  • Experience in working as a team and individually to meet tight deadlines and manage a heavy caseload efficiently and effectively;
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively under pressure while still maintaining the focus on the program targets;
  • Proven inter personal skills in relating to colleagues, volunteers, interpreters and refugees with patience and compassion;
  • Experience and knowledge of operating personal and desktop computers, other office equipment such as scanners, copiers, fax machines and printers;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
  • Proven ability to pay attention to detail and produce accurate work;
  • Knowledge of English at least intermediate level is a requirement for the post.
