The International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) is an internationally operating non-governmental organization serving and protecting uprooted people, regardless of faith, race, ethnicity, or nationality.

For three decades, ICMC has partnered with the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration to conduct refugee resettlement. Currently ICMC operates under a cooperative agreement with the Department of State (DOS), as a Resettlement Support Centre (RSC) to prepare eligible refugee applications for consideration for resettlement in Turkey and Middle East (TuME). As part of this service we work with several thousands of refugees and their families each year and take them through each stage of processing that is required for resettlement to the U.S.A. ICMC also has a sub-office in Beirut, Lebanon. The caseload includes a variety of different nationalities, including Iraqis, Iranians, Syrians and Afghans.

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to our computer systems, hardware, or software. Responds to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolates problem, and determines and implements solutions with guidance from Head Quarter IT department. Applicants should know intermediate O/S installation and hardware knowledge, network knowledge and Server maintenance.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware;
• Respond to queries either in person or over the phone to local team;
• Train computer users on security awareness and basic usage.
• Maintain daily performance of computer systems;
• Respond to email messages for local team seeking help as well as being hands and eyes for HQ IT team;
• Walk local team through problem-solving process;
• Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software on client base;
• Clean up computers;
• Run diagnostic programs to resolve problems;
• Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) and ensure that they are running smoothly;
• Install basic computer peripherals for users;
• Follow up with local team to ensure issue has been resolved;
• Gain feedback from local team about computer usage;
• Run reports to determine malfunctions that continue to occur;
• Report to HQ IT team weekly.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in related areas such as Computer Science, Computer Information Technologies, Mathematics or Industrial Engineering;
• Knowledge and experience of IT systems and minimum 2 years of relevant experience in IT Help Desk, System Admin positions;
• Knowledge and  experience of networks and servers;
• Excellent listening and questioning skills, combined with the ability to interact confidently with staff to establish what the problem is and explain the solution;
• Excellent problem solving skills;
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
• Knowledge of sufficient English to communicate, explain and train staff;
• Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively manage the inquiry load of ICMC/RSC;
• Ability to identify patterns in issues and to develop recommendations for improvements;
• Work in a multi-cultural work environment
