As part of our expansion plans, we are hiring an experienced Sales Engineer to grow OceanX Marine Group’s  Sales efforts in the Turkey region.

This multi-functional role is anticipated to have the primary sales responsibility for representing the following service areas in Turkey, primarily in the Istanbul metropolitan area:

  • Marine Technical Services (Maintenance, Condition Assessment, Troubleshooting)
  • Project Management (Dry Docking, Retrofitting, Repairs, other)
  • Marine Surveying, Inspections, Quality Assurance
  • Marine Procurement (Technical Parts & Supplies)

In performing his/her duties, the Sales Manager will report directly to the OceanX Marine Group managing partners and will offer his/her analytical, technical, and commercial know-how to assist in generating, processing, and closing potential opportunities and converting them into actual sales.

Domestic travel within Turkey is required for this position.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Establishing and actively developing client lists for the designated regions & functions,
  2. Increasing market share from existing clients,
  3. Contacting potential clients (including cold calling) to ensure inclusion on their bidder’s lists and identifying business opportunities as early as possible,
  4. Preparing, presenting, and following up on commercial offers and proposals,
  5. Taking a leading role to ensure a winning quotation is submitted to the client,
  6. Proactively managing client relationships to keep them abreast of technological and other strategic developments, seeking feedback from them to create reports and generating further business development opportunities,
  7. Developing fleet service contract opportunities and negotiating them,
  8. Identifying competitors and performing SWOT analyses on target markets,
  9. Pro-actively utilizing respective CRM systems and intelligence platforms as applicable,
  10. Participating in commercial activity promotion, cross-selling, and preparation of publicity materials, as well as attending trade shows, conferences, and other relevant industry events to represent the OceanX brand,
  11. Investigating and proposing alliances and partnerships with suitable local companies to enhance our presence and exploring inorganic growth opportunities,
  12. Delivering on the annual sales targets and ensuring monthly and other periodical reports are made on time, attending weekly sales calls with the OceanX Marine Group managing partners and quarterly sales reviews,
  13. Looking for feedback on the perception of OceanX Marine Group by the outside world and developing recommendations on how to positively influence the same.

LIMITS OF AUTHORITY:

Authority to incur expenditure within the approved budget.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Nautical Science, or Maritime Administration (Marketing & Business degrees may be acceptable if sufficient maritime exposure is proven)
  • Excellent computer literacy – Office 365 (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook),
  • Experience in Sales & Marketing, particularly desirable if in a Start-Up environment,
  • Experience working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment,
  • Metric-driven, winning sales mindset with an eye for creativity,
  • Proficiency in online marketing and social media strategy,
  • Experience in key account management & sales strategies i.e. Miller Heiman is a plus,
  • Understanding and adequate knowledge of the full suite of offerings from OceanX Marine Group and similar 3rd party marine service companies,
  • Able to build a deep understanding of the competitive markets in which both the Clients and OceanX Marine Group operate,
  • Strong project management, prioritization, multitasking, and decision-making skills,
  • Experience using CRM/Marketing tools and digital platforms such as Canva, MailChimp, Monday.com, or similar desirable.

Excellent relationship management skills

  • Comfortable with engaging at the most senior levels,
  • Engaging, interested, and able to build long-term, trusted Client relationships,
  • Identifies the key Client decision-makers (both economic & technical buyers) and adapts the approach to suit these,
  • Understands the Client culture and adapts style accordingly,
  • Builds and manages key internal relationships, overcoming barriers to delivery and resolving disagreements/conflicts quickly and constructively.

Strong business development skills

  • Excellent questioning and listening skills to generate opportunities,
  • Explores and builds understanding of Client problems,
  • Creates persuasive business cases for clients that articulate the value-add of OceanX Marine Group’s products and services,
  • Commercial awareness,
  • Able to build a deep understanding of the competitive markets in which both the Clients and OceanX Marine Group operate.

Influencing skills

  • Clear, confident, and persuasive in positioning business proposals to the Clients,
  • Able to articulate a clear value proposition to the Clients,
  • Able to influence colleagues within the OceanX Marine Group.

Leadership skills

  • Comfortable in taking a lead on building the business proposal,
  • Able to lead and motivate colleagues within OceanX Marine Group to enable business opportunities to be pursued fully,
  • Prepared to constructively challenge others to ensure standards and objectives are met e.g. quality of input, deadlines, follow-up of complaints, problem resolution, etc.

Personal drive

  • Remains fully focused on role priorities and delivery despite other distractions/opportunities,
  • Prioritizes work appropriately to avoid ‘fire-fighting’ and remain focused on activities that will deliver growth and value.
