Driver

The British Embassy in Ankara is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas as is now looking to hire a Driver to  operate vehicles in support of its operations in Ankara. Duties will include carrying passengers, collecting and delivering documents, routine maintenance of the vehicles and also performing safety checks for the vehicles. The post entails regular evening work, occasional overnight trips and frequent short-notice tasking.

The driver is expected to be fully involved in all activities and to display a pleasant and professional demeanour at all times.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·         Maintain the vehicles to an appropriately high standard of cleanliness at all times;

·         Maintain vehicles documentation, records and log sheets accurately;

·         Maintain vehicles ancillary equipment and other equipment issued to perform the above tasks;

·         Collect and deliver documents and other items as required;

·         Assist with other duties as required;

·         As this is a representational job role, the job holder will be expected to dress in an appropriate fashion and to maintain a neat and tidy appearance at all times when on duty (uniform will be provided).

Essential qualifications and experience  

·         High school diploma;

·         Basic level of English;

·         Fluent written and spoken Turkish;

·         Possession of a clean valid Turkish Driver's License;

·         Operation and maintenance requirements of passenger, including 4x4, vehicles;

·         Five (5) years full-time passenger transportation or delivery experience desirable;

·         Detailed knowledge of Turkish traffic laws, ordinances and rules;

·         Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;

·         Applicants must be willing to undergo a mandatory driving assessment;

·         Candidates should be available to travel to the UK to attend a driving course if required.

Desirable qualifications and experience  

·         Detailed knowledge of the geography of Ankara and routes through and to and from the city will be an asset.

Other benefits and conditions of employment  

This is a full-time permanent contract for 5 working days (36.25 hours net) per week.

The annual salary for this position is 36,076.80 TL gross, S1 level. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law.

All applicants should have the right to live and work in Turkey. The Embassy does not sponsor for work permits.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and a probation period of 2 months.
